About Wulf the Saxon

The story begins with a Saxon ship that wrecks on the shores of Normandy. The Saxon men that are able to make it safely to shore find themselves imprisoned. Young Wulf and his friend, Harold, are able to escape and secure the release of the rest of the men.

Later Wulf fights bravely against the Welsh, demonstrating a courage and whit uncommon for his age. During the fighting he is able to outsmart the Welsh prince and overtake his castle. Wulf proves not only his loyalty to the English King Edward, but also his courage in the face of battle.

January of 1066, an ailing King Edward declares that he has been given a vision that the future of England will be at stake a mere year after his death. The people ask who King Edward would chose to become the new king of England. King Edward chose that Harold should take his place. Harold the Earl is asked to sacrifice all for the sake of England.

The new King Harold must give up on the hope of marrying for love and instead must marry to secure an allegiance that will secure the peace of Northern and Southern England. Soon though, this peace is abandoned as brother takes up arms against brother in a war to determine the fate of the nation.

King Harold is killed in the Battle of Hastings. When the fighting is over, Wulf and his friends are unable to find the body of their fallen king. However, the King’s true love, Lady Edith, was able to find his body. The faithful followers where then able to lay the King’s body to rest properly.

After the death of King Harold,William the Conqueror was crowned the new king. Wulf was finally able to marry Lady Agnus. Harold had once told Wulf that “Fortunate are the few who marry for love and love alone.” Wulf was indeed able to marry for love.

What Did We Think?

We loved listening to Wulf the Saxon! This audio drama is action packed from beginning to end. In fact, we have truly enjoyed each of the dramas put out by Heirloom Audio Productions so much that we signed up for a membership to Live the Adventure Club.
