The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls Books 3&4 ~ Review

When I asked Eli if he would be interested in reviewing Books 3 & 4 from the The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls Series from WorthyKids, an imprint of Hachette Book Group the answer was an emphatic yes. He really enjoyed the first two books in the series and was excited to get the chance to read the next 2:

We reviewed the first two books last fall. You can read that review here.

The Great Escape Synopsis

Peter and Mary once again get to travel back in time and are given the job of decoding the secret message in the scroll. They find themselves in Egypt. After fleeing from a pyramid and a sarcophagus, they were befriend by the Princess Shephara. She took the two of them back to her home the palace. It is there that Peter and Mary first meet Joseph, an Israelite slave.

Peter and Mary had a front row seat to the Moses asking Pharoah to let his people go. They witnessed the plaques as Pharoah continued to not release the Israelites. However, before the final plaque Peter and Mary were led to the home of Moses. It was there that they were saved from the final plaque.

The kids were able to journey with the Israelites of Egypt and safely across the Red Sea before the end of the book

Journey to Jericho Synopsis

Peter and Mary learn that Uncle Solomon was a spy before he became an archeologist. With Uncle Solomon’s persuading the two of the them decide it be fun to dress up like spies. No more had the gotten all their spy gear on when suddenly they heard the roar of the lion from the library meaning it was time for their next adventure.

They found themselves in a tent in the desert. That tent turned out to be the Tabernacle. Their latest adventure has taken back to the desert with Israelites as they are camped near the Jordan River.

Peter and Mary got to practice being spies, when they followed the Israelite spies into Jericho. They were able to meet Rahab and her younger sister, who helped them to escape from the guards.

They are able to join the Israelites in marching around the walls of Jericho for 6 days and finally were able to witness the walls crumbling down on the seventh day.

Eli has really, really enjoyed this book series! I appreciate that the Bible stories are told in fascinating, exciting way!
