Faith Builders Bible ~ Review

Don’t be careless.  Instead, be very careful.  Don’t forget the things your eyes have seen.  As long as you live, don’t let them slip from your mind.  Teach them to your children and their children after them. Deuteronomy 4:9 NIrV

When given the opportunity to review the new Faith Builders Bible from  ZonderkidzI knew just who would enjoy it the most, Eli.  The Faith Builders Bible is written in the New International Readers Version which makes it an excellent choice for younger readers ages 6-9.  (Written at approximately a third grade level.)  Even though Eli is at the top end of the age range, I thought he would still really enjoy it.  I’m happy to say I was right!

Eli was so pleased to be getting his own Bible and then when he saw it he was even more pleased.  The joy didn’t stop there, he been thoroughly enjoying his Bible every since!

The Faith Builders Bible features 24 glossy full-color pages scattered throughout with the building block theme.  Below is a sample of one such page.  Each of the color pages features a story from the Bible and a Building Block Verse which helps to drive home the concept.

The Faith Builders Bible is hard bound.  It measures 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches and has 1152 pages.  It has proven to be just the right size for Eli to take to church.  It also features an easy to understand dictionary in the back along with a listing of Great Bible Stories.  The list of Great Bibles Stories is in order according to which book of the bible it is in.

A wise man…builds his house on the rock.  The rain comes down. The water rises.  The winds blow and beat against that house.  But it does not fall.  It is built on the rock.  Matthew 7:24-25

In the front is a fabulous, two-page spread that illustrates the significance of each of the books of the Bible.  For example, the first five books; Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are illustrated in one stack of blocks and labeled as the Law.  Below is a picture of these two pages.

The next page asks the all important question, “Can you build…”.  With the building block theme throughout it is easy for kids to see the Word continuing to build.  It is my hope that Eli’s faith will continue to build as he digs deeper into the Word.

Several times I have “caught” him reading through his very own bible.  The glossy full-color pages are a big draw for him, but he hasn’t stopped reading there.  Since he now has his own Bible, he has taken an active interest in wanting to read more of it for himself.  I call this a WIN!
