The Kingdom Code ~ Review

Teaching our children how to work hard and handle money God’s way is important to us. We have been reviewing an awesome resource that helps us equip our kids with these all important skills; The Complete Starter Kit from Kingdom Code.

The Kingdom Code is designed to teach money and business skills from a biblical perspective to students in 4th-8th grades. However, it can also be used with students older than 8th grade. The course is designed to be a year long program. There are 27 Lessons which are divided into 68, 45 minute days. (with 4 flex days built in).

From the very first lesson, the student(s) are walked through creating their very own business. The kids were given MANY ideas for service oriented businesses that they could start. These business ideas include topics such as Outdoor Work, House Cleaning & Organizing, Events, Personal Assistant, Animal Care, and Tech Support.

The projects that most appealed to Eli and Rebekah included the Outdoor Work ideas.

I have been using The Kingdom Code with Eli and Rebekah as they are building a business (Treasure Builder) together. The two of them decided that they want to be able market a few different types of products at our local farmer’s market. They have been dilligently working to help plant larger than usual amounts of produce (in fact we tilled up a new spot this spring ensuring that we had more room for them to raise extras) so that they will have produce to sell. They also are reselling some produce that we purchase at the Amish produce auction. They have just started being able to actually sell produce and so far they are getting along well. It has been good for them to see which types of produce are selling and how much the market will pay for different items.

As they manned their booth this past week, they decided that there was a need for some additional baked goods. So they plan to start adding baked goods to their offering. By being aware of the items available at the market and seeing possible areas of need, they hope to grow their business further.

The Kingdom Code Coloring Book and JR KCK Budget Kit

The Kingdom Code Team was kind enough to include The Kingdom Code Coloring Book and the JR KCK Budget Kit for us as bonus freebies to review. Quinton and Hannah have been enjoying hanging out during Eli and Rebekah’s class and using their KCK Jr resources.

What Do We Think?

Rebekah and Eli seem genuinely thrilled to be working through The Kingdom Code. They have enjoyed the lessons as well as the opportunity to earn some money. I like that they are learning so much about budgeting, business planning, and communicating with customers.
