How Much Did It Cost to Plant all those Fruits and Nuts?

We have gotten our fruit and nut trees planted as well as our berry bushes and plants.  So how much did it cost to get them all?

Raspberries

Here is the run down of what we planted, where we got it and how much we spent.

From Arbor Day Foundation ($108.84):

  • Red Delicious Apple
  • Stayman Winesap Apple
  • Early Harvest Apple
  • Bing Cherry
  • Black Tartarian Chery
  • Golden Jubilee Peach
  • Hale-Haven Peach
  • Elberta Peach

From Missouri Department of Conservation ($18.47):

  • (13) Elderberries
  • (12) Pecan Trees
  • (5) Pawpaw trees

From Stark Brothers Nursery ($112.30):

  • (12) Red Raspberry plants
  • (12) Blackberry plants

From Gurney’s Nursery ($58.99)

  • (50) June Bearing Strawberries
  • (75) Everbearing Strawberries
  • (10) Asparagus Plants

The strawberries have done well! I am planning to start more boxes with the runners they keep sending out.

The total amount spent was $298.60 for all the above fruits and nuts.  By shopping around and trying to get the best deals, we were able to get a lot of bang for our buck.  Now we get to look forward to the bountiful harvest that will be to come in the years to come.

Blessings,

Jennifer

What is a pawpaw??? Do you guys have pecan trees around there? I always think of that as a warm weather tree. My grandparents had one in their backyard in Houston. We don’t have any up here, I don’t think they’d survive the winter. I hope yours do well!

      Kristy,
The pawpaw is a native fruit. I have yet to try one so it will be interesting to see if we like them or not. 🙂
We do have pecans locally. There are lots of pecans grown in Missouri, including around Brunswick. Brunswick is considered the pecan capital of Missouri.
Maybe on a visit you can come try a pawpaw and get some pecans.
