FreedomProject Education Review

Brock and I have had the opportunity to review FreedomProject Education’s, Mother, Should I Trust the Government?, book and class.  For this review there were two portions, an online streaming class and the book Mother, Should I Trust the Government?

Freedom Project Education Review
FreedomProject Education classes  are fully accredited through the National Association of Private Schools and are based on Judeo-Christian values.  They provide a classical education that is not government funded or aligned with common core.  The “Mother Should I Trust the Government” class is only held once a year but FPE does have some interesting classes coming up this fall.

For this class, we met on Monday nights for eight weeks, two hours each week.  Dr. Jake Jacobs the author of, Mother Should I Trust the Government?, also taught the class.  The class was live online and in person.  We also received a copy of the recorded class each week to reference back to or watch if the we missed the class.

The book, Mother Should I trust the Government?, is less than 200 pages long.  Dr. Jacobs delves deep into the history of our nation in an easy to read, conversational tone.  He addressed the idea that our founding fathers believed in a republican form of government. “Those republican ideas declared that life and liberty derived from God not government and that our Creator is to be known as He is called in the last paragraph of the Declaration The Supreme Judge of the world so that governors and governments in America would always remember that ultimately it is IN God we trust, NOT the government!” (pg. 21 Mother…)

Our nation still argues over many of the same things that our founding fathers argued about in the 1700’s.  For example, “How much government do we want in America to protect Life and Liberty, and can that government be trusted?” (pg. 25)   Dr. Jacobs stresses the idea that a government is made up of imperfect individuals that have all “been guilty of violating somewhere in their political career and improper balance of enough government to protect but not too much government to do harm. ” (pg. 39)

Dr. Jacobs calls people into action.  He is passionate about teaching youth the history of our nation and calling them into action.  “We need our youth to recapture the beauty of our Republic under God as given to us by our ancestors and our Founding Fathers, so they can carry the mantle of Freedom and Liberty into the future.  Liberty always comes at a cost!” (pg. 167)

We enjoyed both the book and the class and would definitely recommend them.  I like how Dr. Jacobs compared the struggles that our founding fathers had in creating our government system with the struggles we have today as we work to maintain our government.

Blessings,

Jennifer

Note:  For the streaming portion, we tested our computer internet connection to make sure the speed was sufficient.  One thing I didn’t take into account when completing the download speed was to complete the test during the same time frame the class would be occurring. Apparently our internet provider has more people using the internet of an evening, so some weeks we had trouble with the streaming classes freezing which made the class hard to follow.  Thankfully, they also record each class and sent us the recording weekly.  This recording was a huge blessing!
