When I was given the opportunity to review Egglo Entertainment’s glow-in-the-dark Egglo Eggs I thought this might be a good way to combine the fun that the kids have searching for eggs while keeping the focal point on Christ. (Although our kids have participated in Easter egg hunts, these egg hunts have never been a focal point for Easter.)
The products we received from Egglo Entertainment to review included:
- 12 Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs
- The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure book
- Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls
- Egglo Bible Verse Stickers
- The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum
One box of Egglo Eggs contains 12 glow-in-the-dark Easter eggs. They come in four colors: pink, yellow, green and blue. Six of the eggs have a cross on them while the other six are plain so you can decorate them if you want.
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure book is a forty page, softcover book that follows siblings, Hardy and Anastasia and their younger cousin, Pascal, along with their dog Zeke, on an exciting adventure. Their adventure begins when they open a chest in the attic which contains a special glowing egg that opens to contain two scrolls. One scroll has a Bible verse with a lesson that is important for the next stop on the adventure. The second scroll has a riddle that gives a hint as to where they will go on their next stop. At each stop along the journey, they find another glowing egg each containing two scrolls, one with a Bible verse and the other with a riddle for them to figure out.
The Egglo Bible Verse Stickers, like the scrolls, are based on Bible verses that go along with the book. Each sticker is individually cut so they are easy to slip inside eggs.
The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum is a 62 page guide to help churches or individuals plan an event using the Egglo Eggs. The guide includes recipes for snacks such as “Light in the World snacks” and “Egg-cellent Easter eggs.” Ideas for opening and devotional time as well templates for invitations, discussion cards, coloring pages and other helpful resources are included in the curriculum.
The eggs are much more sturdy than typical Easter eggs. They also glow beautifully after charging them as directed. The scrolls and stickers help to reinforce the lessons being taught in the story. I think using the Egglo Eggs will be a new tradition in our house. I like how the glowing eggs symbolize God’s love for us in that He sent His son to be the light to the world. The kids can also see how, like the glowing eggs, when we let our light shine it is easily visible to others.
Blessings,
Jennifer
