Drive Thru History Adventures ~ Review

It’s no secret that our family really enjoys the unique approach that Dave Stotts has when he teaches history. So when given the opportunity to review the one year subscription to the online course called Drive Thru History Adventures, I jumped at the opportunity.

So What Does the Drive Thru History Adventures course consist of?

Here’s a great YouTube video that introduces this new course. Each of the lessons features an action packed video with Dave Stotts walking and driving through the areas were famous men walked and important historical events took place. There are plenty of opportunities to go on “rabbit trails” with the additional activities, readings, original source documents and worksheets. Along the way, he adds in archeaology, geography classical art and a Christian world view.

A curriculum subscription also gives you the ability to watch the Drive Thru History episodes on your tv, tablet, or smart phone. Each week he adds additional resources on various topics such as holidays and  current events.

There are currently three courses available:

  • Bible History (18 weeks on the Gospels)
  • American History (12 weeks on early American history)
  • Ancient History (12 weeks on early Greece, Rome and Asia Minor)

A Little More About Each of the Courses:

Bible History is an 18 week course which covers the gospels and the life of Jesus.  This course allows us to study the history, archaeology, geography and art surrounding the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. As he recounts the story of Jesus, Stotts takes us to the actual locations where Jesus traveled and taught as recorded in the gospel books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This course is considered an 18 week course.

American History (which is where Brock started his studies of this course) is a 12 week class covering important events such as the Pilgrims who settled at Plymouth, the Revolutionary War, George Washington, Paul Revere, the Boston Tea Party and many, many other key aspects to early American History. Brock has completed all 12 weeks during the five weeks we have been reviewing the course. I guess you could say he has loved it! 😉 I do love when he enjoys a class so much that I actually have to tell him to walk away from it though!

Ancient History is a 12 week class on the early cultures in Greece, Rome and Asia Minor. Dave provides insight into how these ancient civilizations helped shape our modern era and our Christian faith here in the Western Civilization.
