Are you prepared?

We often think about being prepared for many different circumstances in life. Do we have plenty of stored food if the weather is bad and we can’t get to town? Do we have a back up plan for water? What about for heat? There is one preparation that is much more important that food, water, clothing or shelter. Do you know what it is?

I was reminded this last weekend, that even those who may not be considered smart by worldly standards, can make this necessary preparation. You see, we celebrated the life of my uncle on Saturday. A life well lived. He had disabilities that left him “not as smart as others” but he was a wise man. You see he was prepared.

He had chosen to allow Jesus to be the Lord of his life.

In John 14:1-3, Jesus was speaking to His disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

How do we get to go to that prepared place? Jesus went on to say, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” John 14:6-7

You see there is a prepared place for prepared people. Have you prepared? I sure hope so!

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost. (Luke 19:10) We are all loved and sought after by the Lord. He sent his Son to save us. He desires for us to be prepared people for the prepared place.

If you haven’t prepared before I truly hope that you will prepare now.

Blessings,

Jennifer

This is a very touching post! You are absolutely right – this is the BIGGEST preparation we can make, and one we did years ago – and are so glad we did!
