Accountable2You ~Review

One of the great things about the internet is that you can find information about basically any subject; one of the awful things about the internet is that you can find information about basically any subject! That is why when we were given the opportunity to review the Family Plan from Accountable2You, I was eager to to try it out.

Accountable2You began when owner and co-founder Ben Lawrence was frustrated by accountability services that caused computer problems and slow Internet speeds. He started by writing a program that he and his wife used. The project then grew and the couple felt that the Lord was leading them to open Accountable2You to the public.

Family Plan:

  • Real time reporting
  • Accountability partners per device
  • Daily or Weekly email reports
  • Hourly Alert reports
  • Instant Text Alerts
  • Manage Objectionable word list

The Family Plan is $9.99 per month with up to 20 devices. When setting up the family accounts you can determine who the accountability partner is for each person. Spouses and parents are generally considered good accountability partners.

Accountable2You is unique in that it doesn’t prevent the user from viewing particular websites, instead it records these “questionable” or “highly questionable” sites and alerts the accountability partner of this usage.

Each day as the accountability partner, I receive an email that lists how many Total Records on each computer, the number of Questionable records and the number of Highly Questionable records. The screen shot below shows an example.

What Other Plans are Available?

Individual Plan:

  • Real time reporting
  • Accountability partners per device
  • Daily or Weekly email reports
  • Hourly Alert reports
  • Instant Text Alerts
  • Manage Objectionable word list

Works well for providing accountability for one person, perhaps a teen, spouse, yourself. With this plan you can have six devices attached to the plan.

Group Plan:

The administrator of the group plan does not have access to see the usage of the individual members, only the accountability partner has that ability. The administrator is responsible for paying the base $9.99/month and the additional $2.99/month for member accounts they create for other users.

These accounts within the Group Plan have the same features as an Individual Account, including reporting, accountability partners, and alerts.

This plan would work well for a homeschool group, youth group at church or other type of group.  Each user in the plan can have up to 6 devices. The individuals in this plan can choose their accountability partners.

Small Business Plan:

The administrator of the plan can set up unlimited devices, such as employee computers or tablets, and can see all the activity on all devices within the account.

The administrator pays the base $14.99/month for the account and an additional $0.99/month for each device that is added to the plan.

I like that we have the personal accountability provided with  Accountable2You. It runs in the background without ever slowing down internet speeds so no one even really notices it is there. The reports are straight forward and easy to read. Our experience has been very good with  Accountable2You. Thankfully, so far we have not had to have any tough discussions with members of our household and choosing Questionable sites; however, it is reassuring to know that we have  Accountable2You.
