Drive Thru History ~ Review

Have you ever wished you could take your family on a trip to Israel to see the Holy Land? The Homeschool Review Crew has had the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land and “walk” where Jesus walked thanks to Drive Thru History® – “The Gospels”. This is the latest edition in the Drive Thru History® series, hosted and edited by Dave Stotts.

Drive Thru History The Gospels
Drive Thru History® – “The Gospels” consists of three DVDs in a high quality, hard bound case. There are eighteen 30-minute episodes, in which Stotts takes us on over 50 stops in Israel. On these stops, we are able to study the history, archaeology, geography and art surrounding the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. As he recounts the story of Jesus, Stotts takes us to the actual locations where Jesus traveled and taught as recorded in the gospel books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Drive Thru History The Gospels
As is customary with Drive Thru History®, the story of Jesus is delivered in such a way that it is fun and adventurous. Meanwhile illustrating the evidence for the truth of scripture, and encouraging families to get excited about reading the Bible again. Stotts has spent over 15 years traveling to the locations where history happened. He is passionate about teaching history, on location in an exciting and engaging way.

The three dvd set also includes a beautifully illustrated study guide to help guide you and your family through this journey. This 118-page study guide covers all 18 episodes and would make a great resource for homeschool, Sunday school or small group study. The study guide includes three main parts for each episode: The Summary, The Discussion and the Side Road. The Side Road provides additional information that pertains to the episode. Recommended Bible readings are also included with each episode’s study guide.

Drive Thru History The Gospels

The recommended age range for Drive Thru History® is 5th grade through adult for educational purposes. However, children younger than middle school will enjoy watching the series with their family. I would say that this is pretty accurate in our house. The older kids do retain more from the videos but the younger kids still enjoy watching them.

What Did We Think About Drive Thru History® – “The Gospels”

The kids all really enjoy the entertainment factor that Dave Stotts brings to history. In fact, prior to reviewing The Gospels, they had watched all of the episodes in both the Ancient History series and the American History series. They also love that they feel like they are actually visiting the locations on the videos.

I really appreciate that they learn so much from Drive Thru History®. Because they enjoy the videos so much, they watch them repeatedly. Of course, that adds to how much the learn from the series.

If you are looking for a great way to bring history to life, you definitely want to check out Drive Thru History® The Gospels!
