If you are like me, you want you kids to be reading wholesome books. Many times it seems like there is a shortage of quality entertainment for our families. The lack of quality entertainment is what led Brian Wells to write the book The League and the Lantern. This is his first book; however, he is not new to the entertainment industry. He has worked and produced 15 TV movies for the major networks.
Jake is hoping that his seventh grade year will be much better than his sixth grade year. However, it quickly looks like that won’t be the case. Disaster strikes on the way to the seventh grade sleep-over. As if that weren’t bad enough the games for the sleep-over are interrupted by a loud explosion and all goes black…
What Do We Think of The League and The Lantern?
This was one of those books that Brock just couldn’t put down. Anytime he had a spare minute he was thoroughly absorbed in The League and the Lantern! Here’s what he has to say about it, “It is full of action, the twists and turns leave you wondering what will happen next. The League and the Lantern is also super funny. I recommend both boys and girls to read it!”
I like that The League and the Lantern is written to inspire kids to read. Throughout the book, historic sites are referenced as the part of the story’s setting. There are also 140 key vocabulary words hidden within the story. The story is also written in such a way to teach moral lessons about family, friendship, mercy and compassion. I love when my kids can read wholesome books that draw them in!
The League and the Lantern is even operating on a buy one – give one campaign so that kids who can’t afford to buy their own copy can still receive one.
