What Do We Think of Introductory Science from Science Shepherd?

We found that it worked well to often watch more than one video per day.  Initially, I had the idea that Adisyn would be working through the course, which she did.  However, her younger siblings also enjoyed watching the videos.  As she went through the workbook, Adisyn often read the questions aloud to them.  Eli and Rebekah were able to answer the questions well.

Adisyn and Eli both agree that Introductory Science is really fun!  They enjoy the video lessons which are very doable for a variety of ages.  Adisyn has enjoyed the workbook, which is well written, with a variety of activities including fill in the blank questions, true or false questions, puzzles, word searches, crossword puzzles etc.

I really appreciate that the lessons begin with the Creation story, as described in the Bible.  The Bible is the foundation on which science is built; therefore, it is the foundation that Science Shepherd‘s Introductory Science is built upon.

The optional hands-on activities that are recommended use easily available supplies. Each activity has a list of the supplies that will be needed for that particular activity. Also, if you choose not to complete an activity the kids can watch the video about that activity.  Some examples of the hands-on activities include:  making a chart for the days of creation, making a pine cone bird feeder, making an anemometer and many, many others.

Our family has really enjoyed using Introductory Science!  It has been so easy to incorporate into our schedule.  Some weeks we did one lesson per day while other weeks we did multiple lessons per day.  This flexible schedule has worked well for us!!

A Little More About Science Shepherd

Science Shepherd was founded by a homeschool dad who saw a need for high quality science curricula.  Recently, Science Shepherd has been working to integrate more videos and photos into a streaming curriculum.  They continue to branch out and create more levels of Science Shepherd. He and his wife began homeschooling their six children in 1998.
