Quinton has been enjoying fun online math games while we’ve been reviewing Matific Galaxy.Play is a great way to encourage learning. Matific Galaxy has taken this idea of learning and fun and developed an award winning K-6 full math curriculum.
About Matific Galaxy
Matific Galaxy is designed to be a full curriculum for grades K -6. There are over 1500 intereactive and engaging games. Upon purchase, you set your student up, including choosing the grade level you want them to work through.
The course is designed to be self-guiding, allowing the student to work at his/her pace. The parent/teacher can be as involved as they choose to be. In addition to showing the student’s progress, The teacher dashboard also allows for fun things like being able to send a note of encouragement to the student.
Like many video games, there is a a goal that continues to build upon itself. In Matifica, the student is working to recover the stolen pixels on each planet. Once the pixels have been recovered for one level, play advances to the next level/planet.
There are 50 skills that are taught in 2nd grade. The skills that are taught in each grade level can be found under the Math Skills tab on the Matific Galaxy website.
The Parent/Teacher Dashboard contains a wealth of information including which subjects have been covered, what his best subjects are and his overall grade. The parent dashboard is easy to navigate.
What Did We Think?
Quinton has two things going for him with Matific Galaxy, he’s a math loving kid and he loves to play video games. So imagine his excitement to find out that he had the opportunity to review aa product that combined these two interests.
Quinton really enjoys the games and doesn’t necessarily think about the fact that he’s doing school. He mostly just thinks it’s fun. I like that he does enjoy the games and that he is, in fact, learning. I like the flexibility of the course being self-guided. The summer months seem to be expecially busy with 4-H projects and extra activities so him being able to work mostly independently is nice. I look forward to him continuing to work through the course, and advance to third grade in the program.
Speaking of advancing, I also like that the parent can adjust the level that the student is working at. This makes Matific Galaxy an even better value. The cost of a full year grade level course is $

I also downloaded the Matific Galaxy 1st grade app on my iPhone. Hannah has loved playing on it. When she saw how much fun Quinton was having she wanted the opportunity to play also. The app itself is free but there are in-app purchases available. There is a Matific Galaxy app available for iOS for each grade K-6.
