Our family enjoys doing Bible studies together and we have found that a great way to have a hands-on study is with one of the resources from Grapevine Studies. Recently, we have had the opportunity to review the Resurrection: Multi-Level study. Rebekah and Quinton have been using the the traceable version while Brock, Adisyn and Eli have been using the student version.

If you have been reading the blog for a while, you might remember that we previously had the opportunity to review the Old Testament 1: Level 2 Creation to Jacob study last November. That was our first experience with Grapevine Studies. If you are interested in seeing what we thought of that particular study you can read my review here.
For those who are visual or kinesthetic learners Grapevine works especially well to help them cement the Biblical lessons as they are being taught. There are eight colors that are used throughout the stick-figuring:
- Purple
- Blue
- Green
- Yellow
- Orange
- Red
- Brown
- Black
These eight colors are used to represent specific parts of each story. For example, purple is used to illustrate God, God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Tabernacle, the Temple, and the Gospel. This cohesive approach of utilizing the same colors throughout each of the studies allows the students to have a good understanding of the characters and places throughout the Bible.
Each of the Grapevine Studies begin with the students going through the timeline associated with that study. Then each lesson builds upon the different aspects of the timeline in a chronological order. The Resurrection study begins with the the days leading up to Passover as the chief priests and the teachers of the law began to plan a way to arrest Jesus. It then continues through the Last Supper into the Garden and the arrest of Jesus. The lessons continue through the Trials, the Crucifixion, the Burial, the Resurrection, the Witnesses and conclude with the Ascension. Each lesson ends with a set of review questions and a memory verse for the students to learn.
The stick figuring allows the different personalities of my kids to be expressed. Some of them really enjoy adding details to their stick figures while others draw very basic pictures. The great thing about the stick figuring is that whether they are very detail oriented or if their stick figures are more plain they still can learn the lesson.
One of my favorite aspects of Grapevine Studies is that the lessons are straight from the Bible and therefore are not biased toward any particular denomination. I also like that the kids can complete the stick figures while gaining a deeper understanding of the Word of God.
During this season of Lent, we have enjoyed the Resurrection: Multi-Level study and highly recommend it!
