Word of the Year 2019

Many people pick a word for a year, this is not something I have done until this year. I actually have two words Intentional Perseverance. We made the decision as a family that we are getting serious about paying down debt. A few weeks ago, I applied for and got a part-time desk clerk position at a local hotel. The idea was that this extra income would be used exclusively for debt reduction. I have to admit, it is so exciting to get a weekly check, even if not too large, that is only used for our goal of paying down debt.

So what do the words Intentional and Perseverance mean? Well here are some synonyms for each:

  • intentional: deliberate, calculated, and conscious
  • perseverance can be described as having tenacity, determination, and resolve.

We have deliberately determined that we are going to make some serious progress on debt reduction. I am excited to see the progress we are going to make this year!!

Now that’s not to say all has been sunshine and roses since making this resolution. Working a shift until midnight can be tiring, especially when life happens. I still have to be up and ready to teach the kids each morning. My dad had neck surgery a few weeks ago and we’ve been doing his chores while he is recovering. He happens to also be calving right now. Baby calves don’t always wait to make their appearance when it works for us. However, I’ve enjoyed the work and I am really enjoying watching the debt slowly be reduced. Here’s to Intentionally Persevering this year!

Blessings,

Jennifer
