Cutting Wood and a Surprise

Yesterday, our family headed out to a friend’s timber with the goal of cutting three loads of wood.  This week the temperatures are supposed to moderate which will be great.  However, because of where this timber is located, we had to drive there while the ground was frozen.  So we enjoyed a brisk 20 degree day of cutting wood.

Cutting Wood Faithful HomesteadThis particular timber was logged about a year and a half ago, so we were cutting up some of the leftover tree tops.  Although some branches are big enough to require splitting, most do not, which makes cutting go fairly quickly.

The kids were great help and we were able to get the equivalent of over three pick up loads for us and a partial pick up load for my mom.  (She didn’t need much because she only burns wood on occasion.)

Scott promised the kids that we would do something special today if everyone worked hard and we reached our goal.  So today after church, we went out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant for a treat.

After we finished eating, I took Hannah to the restroom.  While we were gone, the waiter came out and told Scott that the man sitting in the booth behind us had paid for our lunch.  Imagine our surprise when we were the ones treated!  None of us had paid attention to who was sitting in the booth, so we have no idea who this sweet gift was from.  I hope that whoever it was knows that he made our day!

I hope that you have been blessed in some unexpected way recently as well.  I know that we will be looking for a way to pass it on.

Blessings,

Jennifer
