Grapevine Studies: Resurrection Multi-Level Study ~ Review

Our family enjoys doing Bible studies together and we have found that a great way to have a hands-on study is with one of the resources from Grapevine Studies.  Recently, we have had the opportunity to review the Resurrection: Multi-Level study. Rebekah and Quinton have been using the the traceable version while Brock, Adisyn and Eli have been using the student version.

Birth of John to Jesus' Ministry {Grapevine Studies Review}
For this review, we received the digital version of Resurrection: Multi-Level which includes the student traceable, student and teacher’s guide.  I found it easiest to print off several lessons at a time for the kids. Continue reading

Here to Help Learning ~ Review

Here to Help Learning, written by Mrs. Beth Mora, is easy to utilize in both a homeschool or coop setting. When given the opportunity to try this writing program with Eli and Rebekah, I will admit, I was excited.  Our experience with Here to Help Learning and teaching the kids to be better writers has been a positive one.

Here to Help Learning Review

We received a one-year subscription Here to Help Learning including all six levels.  To begin with, I started Eli and Rebekah in Flight 1 of Paragraph writing.  There are three Flights of Paragraph writing and three Flights of Essay writing; with the final Essay Flight learning to write a book.

Building a Grape Trellis: Part I

You may recall that we transplanted our grapes to our new farm back in November.  In anticipation of them growing, I have wanted to get started on building the arbor.  Friday the weather was fairly nice and it seemed like a great day to start that project.

There was an old, rickety deer stand that was left here when we purchased the farm.  Much of the lumber was still in good shape so I asked the kids to dismantle it.  They seemed to have fun with that task.

We are reusing the 4″ x 4″ x 8′ posts from that old deer stand for the main posts for the grape arbor.  Although I have helped Scott build quite a bit of fence, I had not previously been the operator of the post hole digger.  So I had to call him to find out which buttons to push, in what sequence to make it work.  (I’m sure he loves those kinds of calls from me!)

Anyway, we were able to successfully dig the three post holes and get the posts set.  So far that is as far as we have made it but it is a start.

Grape Arbor I Faithful Homestead

I sure hope the finished project looks like the vision I have in my head for this grape arbor.   I guess only time will tell on that.

Blessings,

Jennifer

The Dragon and the Raven: Heirloom Audio Productions ~ Review

“The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the Lord.”

Our family has come to adore the audio dramas from Heirloom Audio Productionsand their newest one, The Dragon and the Raven has proven to be just as fantastic as the others we’ve heard!  Based on G.A. Henty’s book of the same name, this new audio theater brings Henty alive.  Experience all the action of King Alfred, Vikings and Norsemen while being engaged in a wonderful tale of history.

The Dragon and the Raven {Heirloom Audio Productions Review}
G.A. Henty is a wonderful story teller who weaves a tale in such a way that you feel as you are there in the middle of the action.  Heirloom Audio Productions does a great job of turning these stories into extraordinary adventures that my kids love to go on!  The sound effects and the quality of actors are absolutely outstanding!   The cast for The Dragon and the Raven includes such stars as Brian Blessed (Star Wars, Tarzan, King Lear), John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones), Helen George (Call the Midwife), Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who VII, The Hobbit), John Bell (The Hobbit), and Katherine Kellgren (Award-Winning Narrator).

Faith Builders Bible ~ Review

Don’t be careless.  Instead, be very careful.  Don’t forget the things your eyes have seen.  As long as you live, don’t let them slip from your mind.  Teach them to your children and their children after them. Deuteronomy 4:9 NIrV

When given the opportunity to review the new Faith Builders Bible from  ZonderkidzI knew just who would enjoy it the most, Eli.  The Faith Builders Bible is written in the New International Readers Version which makes it an excellent choice for younger readers ages 6-9.  (Written at approximately a third grade level.)  Even though Eli is at the top end of the age range, I thought he would still really enjoy it.  I’m happy to say I was right!
