Chara Games: Commissioned ~ Review

It’s no secret that our family loves board games, so the older kids and I were excited when given the opportunity to review Commissioned from Chara Games.

Commissioned {Chara Games}

Chara Games was founded in 2014 by Patrick and Katherine Lysaght. The company name, Chara is from the Greek word for enduring joy; an appropriate name! The Lysaghts had two goals when founding Chara Games:

  1. They want to “make high-quality games for youth, teens, and adults to introduce Christian concepts to others in a non-threatening way.”
  2. They “want to provide fun games that help Christians explore their history and deepen their faith.”

Enjoying the Farm While We Build Fence

I have been fairly quiet on here mostly because life has been so hectic at home. Earlier in the year, a friend of ours encouraged us to apply for an EQIP contract to help us implement some of the conservation practices that we really wanted to put into practice on our farm. Some of those conservation practices include reestablishing perennial pastures, providing wildlife habitat through shrub plantings, and implementing a Management Intensive Grazing (MIG) plan (which includes fence and water infrastructure.)

We have been working steadily on installing the hi-tensile fence necessary for the MIG. Most evenings when Scott gets home we work on fence. Although the kids have all been helping with it, they’ve also had time to enjoy just being out on the farm. taking-a-break-from-fencing

Last week when we were fencing, the kids enjoyed hanging out near a small pond. I snapped a few pictures of them while I worked.

They were waiting on me to get to the next spot that a post hole had to be dug.

As you can see from the pictures, the weather has been unseasonably warm and so beautiful!

We almost have the fence completed and I can assure you that we will be celebrating that completion.

Blessings,

Jennifer

Accountable2You ~Review

One of the great things about the internet is that you can find information about basically any subject; one of the awful things about the internet is that you can find information about basically any subject! That is why when we were given the opportunity to review the Family Plan from Accountable2You, I was eager to to try it out.

Accountable2You began when owner and co-founder Ben Lawrence was frustrated by accountability services that caused computer problems and slow Internet speeds. He started by writing a program that he and his wife used. The project then grew and the couple felt that the Lord was leading them to open Accountable2You to the public.

Accountability across all your devices {Accountable2You}
Family Plan:

  • Real time reporting
  • Accountability partners per device
  • Daily or Weekly email reports
  • Hourly Alert reports
  • Instant Text Alerts
  • Manage Objectionable word list

The Family Plan is $9.99 per month with up to 20 devices. When setting up the family accounts you can determine who the accountability partner is for each person. Spouses and parents are generally considered good accountability partners. Continue reading

Ugly, Cracked Sweet Potatoes

We have been harvesting our sweet potatoes a few at a time for the past few weeks. We have had one frost but instead of digging all of them I just covered the plants with old blankets to protect them. Most of the sweet potatoes have been fairly large but many of them have been UGLY.img_4178

I am attributing the misshapen, ugly sweet potatoes to the abundant fall rain we had late in the season. I think the potatoes grew exceptionally fast which led to the cracks.

I’m concerned that they might not store as well so I am planning to can those potatoes that are cracked the worst. Even if the sweet potatoes are quite ugly, they taste DELICIOUS! We’ve been enjoying them baked, fried and boiled.

This is the UGLIEST sweet potato I have ever raised!!
