Portable Automatic Waterer

Recently we set up an automatic waterer on a pallet so that it could be portable.  We don’t really want to put a lot of permanent infrastructure on this farm as we are just renting it, but we also like the convenience of automatic waterers for our livestock.  The waterer we used was a “new” waterer that had never been used.  We bought five of these waterers last summer in an auction.  They are several decades old but have never been used.  We have had to replace the floats as they were not in very good shape but everything else has been working fine.

We started with a standard size pallet and attached a floor to the top of it.  We actually reused an old barn door and cut it to size and screwed it down.  Next Scott put a piece of plywood on top of the barn door where the waterer was going to be attached.

WordsBright ~ S is for Smiling Sunrise Review

I received a hardcover copy of the of the 2015 National Parenting Publications Bronze Award winning S is for Smiling Sunrise published by WordsBright, access to the downloadable teaching guide, and the mp3 song version of the book.  WordsBright is a small, independent publishing company whose focus is on enjoyable, meaningful children’s books.

S is for Smiling Sunrise was written by Vick Wadhwa a Southern California dad who wrote the book initially for his two year old daughter when she was bored with the A-B-C books he was reading to her.  The rhythm of the story can be sung to the tune of the ABC song.  The song version of S is for Smiling Sunrise is even available as a free-mp3 download on WordsBright.  My kids loved listening to the song and would play it over and over again (especially Quinton who would also insist that I show him the book and sing along!)  Not only is the music fun to listen to it also helps the children learn the positive concepts taught in S is for Smiling Sunrise.

Smiling Sunrise ReviewS is for Smiling Sunrise takes learning the letters of the alphabet to a entirely new level. Not only is the alphabet being introduced but important life lessons and virtures are also being taught.  Below are sample pages for the letters V and W from the book as well as an exert from the teaching guide which is available for free from the WordsBright website. Successful Homeschooling Made Easy ~ Review

Are you considering homeschooling but don’t know if you can do it?  Are you currently homeschooling but are feeling burnt out? Then I would recommend Successful Homeschooling Made Easy  for you.  For this review, I received the 26-week-long online course for homeschooling parents. I have been receiving the lessons each week through an email with the lesson attached as a  pdf.  To date I have received and completed 9 weeks of the course.

Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Review
After signing up for Successful Homeschooling Made Easy Course (SHME) you get the first lesson emailed to you right away.  Then once a week you will receive an email with the next lesson of SHME until you have received all 26 lessons.  With the encouraging, gentle, approach that Stephanie Walmsley uses in SHME you truly feel as though you are equipped to begin successfully homeschooling after the first lesson.  Although this course could be viewed as a resource for beginning homeschoolers, it is also valuable for veteran homeschoolers who want to enjoy stress free homeschooling and guard against burn out.  The beauty of SHME is that as you go through the course you can learn which style of learning and organizing is best for you and your family.  This also helps you be able to determine what type of curriculum would be a good fit for your family as well.
