Writing Through Modern History: Level 2-Cursive ~ Review

Quality over quantity.
Accuracy over speed.
Ideas over drill.
Perfection over mediocrity.

This year we are studying American history starting in 1800, so when given the opportunity to review Writing Through Modern History Level 2 Cursive from Brookdale House  I was excited.  What a great opportunity to improve the handwriting and writing of Brock, Adisyn and Eli while they are learning about history!  I received the digital download for Writing Through Modern History Level 2 Cursive for review purposes.

This Is OUR Farm

IMG_2315This week we closed on our farm!  This picture was taken shortly after it was “officially” ours.

From here all you see is beautiful pastures; however, most of the farm has been in crop production for the past several years.  The entire farm is hilly, making it susceptible to being easily eroded, so we will be returning it back to pasture.  Unfortunately, the grass can be killed off in just one short season, so that row crops can be planted, but establishing a new stand of grass is both costly and takes time.

I am excited to chronicle our progress on our very own farm.

Blessings,

Jennifer

FishFlix: Do You Believe? ~ Review

Do You Believe? has been on my “want to see list” since it first came out in the theater. So when our family had the opportunity to review the movie, Do You Believe?, from the makers of God’s Not Dead we were all super excited.  The DVD that we received for this review was provided by FishFlix.com.  FishFlix.com is an Online Christian Movie Store.  Their goal is to use media and entertainment to educate, inspire, and bring glory to God.

FishFlix.com Review no 2Initially, we are introduced to a dozen very different people, from very different social and economic backgrounds.  These twelve people whose lives seem separate from one another soon begin to intersect in ways that only God could foresee.

FishFlix.com Review no 2
Do you believe in the cross? This question was asked by Malachi of Pastor Matt when he stopped at a stop sign.  When Matt replied, “I am a pastor,” Malachi says that he has not answered the question. They both hear the shattering of glass as a van window is broken out by four gang members.  Malachi hurries over to the van with his life-size cross on his shoulder and confronts them; Kriminal the leader points a gun at Malachi’s head and asks him if he is ready to die.  His response: I am, are you? catches the gang members by surprise.  They then sped away in the stolen van.

After his encounter with Malachi, Matt continues on his way home.  When he sees a homeless, pregnant, teenage girl digging through a dumpster he feels compelled to help her.  He takes her to his home where is wife, Grace, says that she can’t stay.  They decide that they would pay for her to have a motel room.  Over the next few days, Grace’s heart softens toward the girl, Maggie.  Grace takes her into their home and helps Maggie get prenatal care during the final weeks of her pregnancy.

We see an EMT, Bobby, who puts his job on the line when he leads a dying man to Christ.  When the man’s wife sues Bobby, Bobby’s wife questions why he would risk their financial safety because of his spiritual beliefs.  Their rocky marriage is further complicated by her brother, Carlos, when he comes home from the Marines suffering from severe PTSD.  Bobby’s wife, Elena, has plenty of job-related stress as a nurse who often sees the worst in people.

J.D. and Terri, also members of Matt’s church, have struggled for years on how to handle the untimely death of their daughter at the hands of a drunk driver.  After hearing Matt’s sermon about putting their faith into action, they volunteered at a soup kitchen where they meet a widow and her young daughter.

Throughout the movie we continue to see how one person’s actions can change the lives of so many other people.  As Christians we are encouraged to make a difference for Christ, to put our faith into action.

What Did We Think?

We have already watched Do You Believe a few different times because it is such a wonderful movie.  I find it so encouraging that we can see how our lives effect others which serves as a good reminder to live for Christ!

I would highly recommend the movie, Do You Believe?!!
