Do you desire the best for your children? In a culture in which sex sells, it can be hard to teach the next generation to regard sex the way God does. I recently had the opportunity to review a book that does a great job addressing the topic of sex God’s way. Love, Honor, and Virtue: Gaining or Regaining a Biblical Attitude Toward Sexuality is specifically written for young men aged 12-20 something and published by Great Waters Press. However, men older than 20 who want encouragment on living a life of love, honor and virtue will also be encouraged by this book.
Authors, Hal and Melanie Young are the parents of six sons (four already grown) and two daughters. They are the award-winning authors of Raising Real Men and My Beloved and My Friend: How to Be Married to Your Best Friend Without Changing Spouses. It is obvious in their writing through books and blog posts, and through their speaking engagements, that Hal and Melanie are passionate about equipping Christian families to raise Godly children.
For this review, I received the unabridged audiobook, Love, Honor, and Virtue: Gaining or Regaining a Biblical Attitude Toward Sexuality. The audiobook features the recording of Hal reading the entire book on three CDs. This book doesn’t tiptoe around the topic of gaining or regaining a Biblical attitude toward sexuality. I would not recommend popping the cd in the car and taking off with a carload of kids. However, I absolutely do recommend Love, Honor, and Virtue as a great tool in raising young men.

My Thoughts
Hal and Melanie cover some very intimate topics in a very God-honoring, Biblical way. They answer those questions that are difficult to ask as a young man. They dive into the subjects of sexual sin and the harms that these sins bring. They offer five keys to fleeing sexual sin: Leave the situation, Pray, Read Scripture, Sing Praises and Go to Authority.
Throughout the book, they are very encouraging to the reader/listener. It is obvious that they have a heart for equipping men, young and old to live a virtuous life. I really appreciate the way they have approached a delicate yet tough subject.
Are you wondering if Love, Honor, and Virtue would be a good fit for the young men in your life? I would suggest that you read the Introduction to Love, Honor, and Virtue.
